THE PROJECT AND CONTACT DETAILS

I arrived in Cullompton in 1997 with a passion for family history and having spent several years as treasurer for the Devon and Cornwall Branch of the Western Front Association.  After enquiring at the library and other places around the town I was surprised to find that very little was known about the men commemorated on the town war memorial in the Bullring.  I set about trying to change this, with grand ideas about writing a book.  After I bought my first computer the project became internet based, allowing me to research and "publish" as I go along.

I am not a military historian.  All of my interest in the wars stems from an interest in family and social history rather than battle tactics etc, and by trade I am not a historian at all! This website is aimed at those interested in genealogy who may be looking for a missing link for their family tree, local school children in the hope that they may look at the names on the memorials in a new light and anyone else who, like me, cannot pass a war memorial without wondering ........

Much as I would love to spend all of my time researching and writing, sadly I have to go to work to pay the bills!  Progress has therefore been much slower than I would have liked.  The wonderful thing about history is that it is always there, waiting to be uncovered .......
